A Plan Greater Than Our Own
So ... another propane company has decided that our back access road is unfit for a truck to deliver propane. We are not in a position to widen our driveway just yet so we will rely on 20 lb (BBQ size) propane tanks ... or even the 100 lb. tanks. I've been doing research all day on how to lay the lines for that kind of situation. The tanks must remain outside ... we're thinking that instead of wiring through our wall or flooring, we'll bring the line through the window (it wouldn't be that expensive to replace a screen later). The reason? Well ... we are building an add on, specifically for our kitchen ... and our plan is to have a wood cook stove, thus eliminating dependency on propane. We'll probably still keep the stove we just bought & use it for big amounts of cooking along with the wood cook stove ... but it won't be our first or only source for cooking. Doing it with the smaller tanks also gives us more money in our pockets as far as start up costs.
On a side note ... our next project will be building our own solar water heater. Here's what it will be like (and when we are doing it, we'll make our own video & take pictures of the process)
