It's time to do some upgrades! We ordered our new, "cabin size" shower last night. Once we get the shower installed, we'll put the walls up. We still haven't decided whether we want a door on the living room side of the wall & in to our bedroom ... or just enter our bed room & then to the bath room. I'm thinking we'll just go with the one door, from our bed room. It has pro's & cons ... pro would be cutting costs. Major con is that everyone, including our children would have to be in & out of our room all the time. Just seeing that in writing makes me want to get two doors ... but the extra wall space is valuable too. It's all about where the most important sacrifice would be. Now I'm off to learn how to plumb it!
LOL!!! I vote for 2 doors!! Even if one just has a curtain for a while. Middle of the night potty trips when you are, ehm... engaged will get old fast. :p Privacy is important sometimes, even if it's rare, and it needs to be available if you can. Have you checked any recycle/reclaim places for interior doors?
ReplyDeleteGood point, my friend! I think I may have come up with a solution! I'm betting we could find doors on Craig's List or Freecycle, some where!
ReplyDeleteDoors could be placed on a sliding track, like some closet doors. That way opening and closing the door doesn't alter available floor space. Also if placed correctly wall space will not be too greatly altered, as sliding doos can be set out just far enough to travel over/above standard picture frames. I personally prefer "pocket" doors (doors that slide inside the wall,) but they usually need to be planned for in the design phase and placed in the home during the original construction process in order to work properly.
ReplyDeletePocket doors would be great & as a matter of fact we may use those in another part of the house. The main issue in this part of the house is that we need the wall space. We did solve the issue though. Instead of having the only door going in to our bedroom & then the bath room, we reversed it. The door will be to the bath room ... and then from inside the bathroom, there will be one going in to my bedroom. No one will have any reason to go in to our room.
